Recorded entirely on VHS mostly in a single room in Brooklyn, The Special People is the culmination of 15 years of creating video art that ranges from delightfully playful to daringly vulerable. Director Erica Schreiner built a sparkling, fantastical melange of sets and backdrops to create a stunningly rich world populated with wonderfully strange characters. The soft, ethereal visuals are underscored by an original score from co-star Johnny Dydo of the garage-tropicalia band The Johns.
