THE GLOVE

The Glove was an experimental music and performance space I cofounded and ran from June 2016 - September 2019. The space was made and maintained by and for local artists and designed to hold space for the incredibly strong, beautiful, challenging, and eclectic underground arts community in Brooklyn. The Glove has a legacy of three years of creativity, celebration, and mischief. The space was an essential cornerstone in many peoples lives and is sweetly missed.

Some quotes from those close to the space:

“The Glove changed my life. The people who made this place run are some of the hardest working and kindest people I’ve ever met. One of the only places I’ve ever felt welcome at ALL times no matter who is there or what is happening. ….  It was my place because everyone who cared and participated had different perspectives and made different music, and it was completely bolstered and strengthened by that. We don’t need new rock clubs or punk houses or art galleries; we need more Gloves.” - Justin S

“It was the perfect place for people to be creatively open and hone ideas. The curation was second to none, you can catch music, film screenings, plays, performance pieces, pretty much anything and everything. A lot of the time I ended up there just to hang not knowing what was going on just to find something new. No other venue felt more like home than there” - Alex C

“Thank you for being the only constant place in New York where I felt truly free for the last few years. … Thank you for actually supporting artists and not taking money from them. Thank you for being the truest community driven space in New York.” - Rachael U
